After the blow that was the defeat to Arsenal, there is a light on the horizon for Chelsea.
Finally, a new striker is set to join Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge to lead the line and put away chances that fall into the box.
Gonzalo Higuain worked with the Italian at Napoli. In his final season before joining Juventus he scored 36 goals in 35 league games.
While the Argentinian has also built a reputation for being something of a choker in big moments, especially for his country in the finals of major tournaments, he a steady finisher with a solid track record of scoring goals at club that cannot be so easily dismissed.
He is set to sign from Juventus on loan after cutting short his temporary stay at Milan, who will replace him with Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek.Despite claims that the deal to bring Higuain to west London was agreed last week, Chelsea did not manage to confirm the move before the Friday deadline to name the 31-year-old in their squad to face Arsenal. The Blues recorded only a single shot on target in their loss to the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium. Would the presence of the Juventus forward on the pitch have changed things for Sarri's side? It's hard to say.Higuain's arrival, and the details behind his move, is only one of the stories doing the rounds ahead of what should be a busy week for the Blues.
Read on for all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours and gossip.
Gonzalo Higuain to Chelsea
Almost there! Following reports last week that the deed was done, Chelsea are still to confirm that their deal to sign Higuain is complete, even though negotiations are complete according to sources in England and Italy.
Part of the problem is Piatek, the aforementioned Polish forward who is heading to Milan to take up the Argentinian's place. His switch is also waiting on official confirmation. Thanks to a quirk of the fixture list, Monday night sees Piatek's current club Genoa host Milan. It seems likely that everything should be signed off on Tuesday.
On to the details around Higuain. According to the Daily Star, he will be paid £270,000-per-week at Chelsea. That wage would make him the fifth-highest paid Premier League after Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne.
Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid
While Milan may be waiting on Piatek's arrival before they agree to letting Higuain leave, Chelsea are looking to make space for the Argentinian.
Alvaro Morata may not be among the best paid players in the Premier League but he isn't playing for peanuts, and it increasingly seems as though his future will lie elsewhere.Perhaps Atletico Madrid? Antonio Ruiz, a journalist for COPE in Spain, claims that the deal is already done to take the former Real Madrid forward back to the capital.
In a tweet posted to his official account, he added that Barcelona were fighting their La Liga for the player until the very end of negotiations.
Another spot of business that fans can expect to see concluding early this week.
